MANNA EXPERT

Privacy

What Manna Expert stores, what it never touches, and how to erase it.

Effective 25 August 2026

Manna Expert is a free Come Follow Me study companion. It is offered as a gift — there is nothing to buy, no advertising, and nothing about you is for sale. This page explains, plainly and specifically, what the app keeps.

It describes the Manna Expert iOS app and the servers it talks to at api.manna.expert.

The short version

No sign-up — the anonymous device account

The first time you open Manna Expert, the app generates a random identifier for your device and uses it to create an account on our servers. That account is what lets your journal, questions, and favorites persist.

We never ask for your name. We do not use any Apple-supplied device identifier — there is no advertising identifier (IDFA), and the app never asks for permission to track you, because it does not track you across other apps or websites.

The random identifier is kept in your device's Keychain. That means it survives deleting and reinstalling the app, which is deliberate: it is what stops a reinstall from wiping a journal you have been keeping for months.

What is saved on our servers

Tied to that anonymous account:

What stays only on your device

Adding an email address (entirely optional)

If — and only if — you want your journal to follow you onto a second device, you can attach an email address. We send a six-digit code to it; the code is stored only as a one-way hash, expires after ten minutes, and allows five attempts.

The address is used to link your devices and to send that code. It is not used for marketing, and you are never mailed anything you did not ask for. If you never add an email address, we never have one.

How your questions are answered

When you ask a question, the question text and the week you are studying are sent to our servers. Nothing else goes with it — no name, no email, no device details.

The answer is assembled by searching a library of scripture, General Conference addresses, official Church materials, temple dedicatory prayers, university scholarship, and Hebrew and Greek lexicons, and then quoting and linking what it finds. The great majority of this runs on hardware we operate ourselves.

For the small number of questions the local system cannot answer well, the question text and the scripture passages retrieved for it may be sent to a third-party AI provider to compose a better answer. Your identity is not sent with it. Question text also passes an automated safety check before any of this happens.

Questions and answers are kept on your account so you can return to them, and so we can tell when the system is answering badly and fix it.

Sending feedback

If you report a problem or send an idea, we receive your message, any email address you choose to type in, and basic technical context: the app version and build, your iOS version, and your device model (for example, "iPhone17,2").

A report is tied to your account. That is deliberate — it is how a reply reaches you in “My Reports” rather than disappearing into an inbox. It is used for nothing else, and your journal, clippings and questions are not attached to it.

If you attach a screenshot, that image is uploaded and kept with the report. Please glance at what is on the screen before sending one: a screenshot carries everything visible at that moment, including notifications from other apps. You pick each image yourself — the system hands the app that one picture and nothing else.

Ask us to delete a report and its screenshot at any time: support@manna.expert.

What Manna Expert does not do

Children and families

The Family storybook is written for an adult to read with a child. It collects nothing about that child — no name, no age, no birthday, no photograph. There is nowhere to enter such a thing.

The printable coloring pages and puppet cut-outs are generated from the week's lesson and need no information about anyone.

Deleting everything

Open You, then "Delete account & data". This permanently removes your account together with every journal entry, clipping, collection, composition, question, answer, and favorite attached to it. It is a deletion, not an anonymization — the text is gone, not quietly retained.

Downloads are separate and live only on your device; remove them from the same screen, or by deleting the app.

Security and server logs

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Like any web service, our servers keep standard access logs, which include the network address a request arrived from; these exist for reliability and to stop abuse. Aggregate health metrics we collect contain counts only — no journal text and no personal detail.

Traffic reaches us through Cloudflare, which routes it and keeps its own logs as part of doing so.

Independence

Manna Expert is an independent study companion. It is not created, sponsored, endorsed, reviewed, or approved by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. AI-assembled commentary is instructional input, never doctrine, and always points back to the authoritative sources themselves.

Changes, and how to reach us
